Import Offline Maps Guide

If you would like to use a large number of pre-generated maps offline, please look closely at the “Import Maps from PC” feature. It allows you to upload offline maps created on your computer and use them within the application.

Follow this steps to import offline maps:

Step 1: Download & Install

  1. Download the appropriate version of Mobile Atlas Creator application for your OS:

  2. Extract archive in a separate folder.

Step 2: Map Creation

Start the “Mobile Atlas Creator” program and follow the steps listed below:

  1. Select Map Source (e.g. OpenStreetMap Mapnik).
  2. Select an area you want to download on map:
    • right click to drag
    • scroll to zoom in/out
    • left click to select downloadable area
  3. Tick the desired zoom levels.
  4. Click “Add Selection” button on “Atlas Content” section.
  5. Choose RMaps SQLite format from “Atlas Settings”.
  6. Click “Create Atlas” to start downloading.

When done, open atlases folder in “Mobile Atlas Creator” directory - YourMapName.sqlitedb file appears here.


Step 3: Uploading to device

Connect your device to computer, launch the iTunes application and perform these steps:

  1. Open the iTunes application and select your device.
  2. Go to the “Apps” tab and scroll down.
  3. Select “Galileo” in Apps list.
  4. Add YourMapName.sqlitedb file into “Galileo Offline Maps” shared folder.
  5. Synchronize your device by clicking the “Apply” button.

Use offline maps

Start “Galileo Offline Maps” app on your device - created YourMapName offline map appears in Settings > Map.

Select it and navigate around the downloaded area, without a need for Internet connection.

Note: to use imported offline maps on your device make sure you have purchased the “Import Maps from PC feature.
